Food Safety Enhancement Program (FSEP)

The Food Safety Enhancement Program (FSEP) is the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA) approach to specify the requirements for a minimum, effective food safety management system. Federally registered establishmetns should demonstrate their ability to follow the standards which are based on the principles of the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system in federally registered establishments. The FSEP outlines the process to be recognized by the HACCP here.

The recognition is required for any establishments recognized under the Meat Inspection Regulations as well as federally registered commodity groups under dairy, processed fruits and vegetables, shell eggs, processed eggs, honey, maple, and hatcheries.
